Physical Education
We will inspire all children and each child will fulfil their potential. We want the children’s experience of PE to be positive and motivating. PE enables pupils to become physically confident. This supports their health, wellbeing and fitness and provides the foundations for lifelong activity. PE can challenge and promote self-esteem through the development of physical confidence and problem solving. It can teach children to cope with both success and failure in competitive, individual and team based physical activities. This helps them build character and learn values such as fairness and respect. Through PE, we develop the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding.
The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:
- develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- are physically active for sustained periods of time
- engage in competitive sports and activities
- lead healthy, active lives.
